The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is the successor of the former Technical University of Lisbon and University of Lisbon resulting from the merger of the two institutions.
This project culminates in joining, in the same institution, the various areas of knowledge, thus creating the best conditions to monitor the progress of contemporary science, technology, arts and humanities.
Speaking of ULisboa is speaking of Lisbon. It was, indeed, in Lisbon in 1288 that was born the first Portuguese university, transferred later, in 1537, to Coimbra.
From the late eighteenth century, higher studies were re-established in the capital, through courses, schools and institutes, in 1911 and in 1930, came together at the University of Lisbon and the Technical University of Lisbon.
The ULisboa now created, continues a history of more than seven centuries.

A Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) é a sucessora das anteriores Universidade Técnica de Lisboa e Universidade de Lisboa resultando do processo de fusão entre as duas instituições.
Este projeto culmina na vontade de juntar, numa mesma instituição, as diversas áreas do conhecimento, criando desta forma as melhores condições para acompanhar a evolução contemporânea da ciência, tecnologia, artes e das humanidades.
Falar da ULisboa é falar da cidade de Lisboa. Foi, com efeito, em Lisboa que em 1288 nasceu a primeira Universidade portuguesa, transferida mais tarde, no ano de 1537, para Coimbra.
A partir do final do século XVIII, os estudos superiores foram restabelecidos na capital, através de Cursos, Escolas e Institutos que, em 1911 e em 1930, se congregaram na Universidade de Lisboa e na Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.
A ULisboa, agora criada, continua uma história com mais de sete séculos.
